An exhibition embedded in the Freshwater landscape with Dimbola as a catalyst and meeting place for an exploration of the work of D.H. Lawrence's novel 'The Trespasser' , Helen Corke's ,'In our Infancy' and Virginia Woolf's 'To the Lighthouse' and 'The Waves'.
Judy's work is engaged with the poetic dialogues between writers and painters and the elemental environments that form the nature and development of their work.
Two stories and two sisters - Virginia Woolf and Vanessa Bell [nee Stephen] - form the foacl point around which the threads of the exhibition flow .
Their mother, Julia Stephen [nee Jackson] , was a favourite niece and model of Julia Margaret Cameron . Alongside Judy's work is shown photographs of Virginia Woolf as a child taken by Camerons son, H.H.H. Cameron and given to Dimbola by Anne Olivier Bell [wife of Vanessa's son Quentin Bell]. Plus , a selection of photographs taken by musician and artist Patti Smith at Charleston and Monks House, East Sussex , the homes of Vanessa and Virginia.
